At a time, when the boutique culture was taking over with Indian wear at the forefront, Anita Dongre saw the potential for retailing affordable western wear. And since then the 55-year-old designer’s empire has not only attracted investors like Kishore Biyani and General Atlantic but gone to build itself into a brand that serves customers at varied price points, has extended beyond just apparel and established its presence beyond the Indian border.
